Abstract

Nasal cavity is a common site for polypoidal, inflammatory lesions, however nerve sheath tumour is a rare presentation. Sinonasal schwannoma is extremely rare, slow growing benign nerve sheath tumour comprising 4% of head and neck schwannomas. They arise from schwann cells of first or second division of 5th cranial nerve or from autonomic fibres supplying nasal mucosa. Clinically it often presents with non specific symptoms like nasal obstruction, epistaxis and anosmia which can lead to misdiagnosis of more common inflammatory diseases or sinonasal malignancies.

This report presenst a case in a 70 year old female, highlightening the critical role of multiplanar imaging in diagnosis and further management of the patient.

Keywords: Sinonasal schwannoma, nerve sheath tumor, nasal cavity mass, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
