Abstract
Sexual risk behaviours among youth in Botswana continue to pose a significant public health challenge, contributing to high rates of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and unplanned pregnancies (Sinkamba & Moseki-Lowani, 2016). This study investigated how youth unemployment complicates engagement in risky sexual practices. A systematic desk review methodology was adopted, following PRISMA guidelines to ensure rigor and transparency. The findings demonstrate that at the individual level, unemployment constraints young people’s ability to engage in safe sexual decisions, while at the interpersonal level, dependency on financially supportive partners reduces negotiation power for safer sex.
